Marketplace Overview

Welcome to Marketplace Classifieds — We’re the go-to free online Marketplace for local services, jobs, car auctions, pets, freelancer services, and more! 
 

Non-Selling Listings

The following listing categories use a classified listing format on the Marketplace. 

Follow these steps to act on these listings:

1. Register to Communicate

To contact the listing owner directly or ask a private or public question, you must first register for a free Marketplace account.

2. Perform Due Diligence

All classified listing transactions are conducted outside of the marketplace. It is your responsibility to perform due diligence and ensure that the listing you're considering is right for you before dealing with a third-party person or business.

  • Thoroughly review the listing description, photos, and listing details.

  • Ask the listing owner any questions you may have with the "Submit Public Question", "Send Message", or “Contact” features.


4. Complete Transaction

You and the listing owner are responsible for conducting all activities related to the listing outside the marketplace.

 

Selling Listings

The following listing categories use a fixed-price or auction listing format on the Marketplace.  Here’s how to confidently bid or "Buy Now" on the Marketplace:

1. Create a Free Marketplace Account

You must have a Marketplace account to bid, buy, ask a listing question, and send messages on the Marketplace. Registration is 100% free, requires some basic information, and requires verifying your e-mail address.


2. Do Your Due Diligence

While we aim to make your experience as safe and transparent as possible, it’s your responsibility to verify the listing details before making a purchase.

Be sure to:

  • Carefully review the listing description, images, attachments, videos, and other listing details.

  • Ask questions using the “Questions and Answers” or “Contact” features on the listing.

  • For Freelancer Service listings, make sure you understand what requirements you may be asked to provide to the Freelancer.

  • For Car Auction listings, we recommend obtaining an inspection before purchasing and reviewing the vehicle's inspection reports (if available) and service history.
     

3. Secure Financing and Plan Logistics

Before placing a bid or "Buy Now", make sure your finances and logistics are in order.

  • Confirm what payment methods the seller accepts.

  • If you're financing a car, get pre-approved (see our Buyer Resources for financing options).

  • Understand shipping requirements for Car Auctions before you bid or "Buy Now".

  • If car shipping is needed, request a quote from our trusted shipping partners.
     

4. Place a Bid or Buy Now

Our Marketplace is intuitive and secure:

  • All bids are binding. Only bid if you’re committed to the purchase and have completed your due diligence.

  • To keep bidding fair, any bids placed within the final 60 seconds will extend the auction by 2 minutes.

  • Fixed price listings use the "Buy Now" feature.

  • Some auction listings may use the “Buy Now” option — purchase instantly at the listed price to skip the auction entirely.

  • Some listings may offer a “Make Offer” option. Submitting an offer is also binding — only make an offer if you're ready to follow through if it's accepted.

  • All purchases are binding, so only buy if you’re fully committed and have completed your due diligence.


5. Win the Auction

The highest bidder wins — simple as that.

  • If the auction has a Reserve Price, your bid must meet or exceed the hidden minimum set by the seller.

  • If the auction is No Reserve, the highest bid wins regardless of the amount.

Once the auction ends, you'll be connected directly with the seller to finalize the transaction.  “Buy Now” listings that are purchased are immediately connected to the seller to finalize the transaction.  Both parties will receive contact information to complete payment and arrange local car pickup, car shipping, or delivery of the Freelancer Service.
 

🕒 Buyers are expected to complete payment within 7 days of car auction purchase and within 1 day of a Freelancer Service.

Classified Listings:

  • Price:  FREE

  • Format: Shoppers or job hunters interact directly with the listing owner outside of the marketplace.

  • Duration: 30 days

  • (Optional) Price: The price is fixed, providing certainty for both buyer and seller.

  • Buyer Engagement: Shoppers or job hunters can receive messages on the Marketplace or through their own 3rd party websites or contact methods.

  • Transaction Process: All transactions are conducted outside of the marketplace.


Fixed Price Freelancer Services Listings:

  • Cost: FREE – You keep 100% of the final sale price! No hidden fees or commissions.

  • Format: Set your price. Buyers can purchase instantly — no bidding involved.

  • Duration: 30 days

  • Buyer Engagement: Moderate – simple, direct buying experience.

  • (Optional) Make Offer: Allow buyers to submit offers separate from and lower than the Buy Now price.

  • (Optional) Listing Upgrades: When creating your listing, we offer optional listing upgrades to help your listing stand out.

  • Purchase Process: Once the buyer clicks "Buy Now", we connect the seller and buyer to complete the transaction.

 

Car Auction Listings:

  • Cost: FREE – You keep 100% of the final sale price! No hidden fees or commissions.

  • Selling Format: Buyers compete for the car by placing bids. The highest bid at auction close wins.

  • Duration: 7 days

  • Buyer Engagement: High – active bidding drives momentum and price.

  • Proxy Bidding Accepted: Bids are automatically entered on behalf of the bidder for the lowest amount required to win the auction.

  • (Optional) Make Offer: Allow buyers to submit offers separate from and lower than the Buy Now price.

  • (Optional) Buy Now Price: The set price at which you are willing to sell the item immediately.

  • (Optional) Reserve Price: The minimum amount that you are willing to accept for the car.

  • (Optional) Listing Upgrades: When creating your listing, we offer optional listing upgrades to help your listing stand out.

  • Purchase Process: At the auction end, we connect the seller and buyer to complete the transaction.

  • ⚠️ Important: Auction listings must be exclusive. Remove your listing from other platforms and do not accept outside offers. Do not include external links or websites in your listing, photos, or attachments.


2. Create Listing

A compelling listing leads to more listing activity, faster sales, or better responses. Here’s how to maximize impact:

  • Include detailed descriptions and relevant listing details.

  • Upload high-quality photos from multiple angles.

  • Add PDF documents and a YouTube video — both options add more credibility to your listing.

  • If filming a video, use your phone in landscape mode for the best viewing experience.

  • Be ready to respond quickly to buyer questions and requests.
     

3. Engage During the Sale

Engagement is crucial — especially for listing success. Responding to questions, sharing updates, and posting extra photos will build trust and increase bids, close sales, or motivate buyers/job applicants to reach out.

  • Use the “Questions and Answers” and “Contact” features to interact with potential buyers/job applicants.

  • Promote your listing by sharing it on social media.
     

4. Finalize the Sale (Car Auction)

Once the Car Auction ends or a buyer clicks "Buy Now", we’ll connect you directly with the buyer. Both parties will receive each other’s contact information to coordinate payment, local pickup, or shipping.


🕒 Sellers are expected to complete transactions promptly after the listing ends. Freelancer Service sellers must complete transactions in the timeframe they advertise on the listing.
